The Carney Honeymoon Rolls On
Majority of Canadians say the country is headed in the right direction under Carney
Newly released polling from Innovative Research suggests Canadians have a positive view of Carney’s government heading into the summer recess.
The large survey of 3,000 respondents during the month of June found 56 percent of Canadians saying they believe Carney’s changes are moving in the right direction, while 31 percent say they are heading in the wrong direction.
The share of Canadians saying Carney’s changes are moving in the right direction is over 50 percent in nearly every region, except for Alberta, where 47 percent agreed with the statement. That is unsurprising given only 32 percent of Conservatives agreed with the sentiment, though notably 67 percent of New Democrats held similar feelings.
The backlash against Carney among some progressives has not been materializing, as the data from the survey shows.
