With the world in a state of upheaval, both socially and economically, many Canadians are wondering what the next five years will look like. According to new polling from Abacus Data, it seems Canadians are leaning more toward pessimism than optimism.

For example, when asked whether it is likely that artificial intelligence will cause many white-collar jobs to be displaced or eliminated within the next five years, 34% said yes. This view is held most strongly by Gen-Z Canadians, at 44%.

On the other hand, only 20% of Canadians believe such an economic disruption will definitely take place, while 40% think it could happen but do not believe it is very likely within the next five years.

From NATO deployments in Europe to another potential economic crisis, the survey offers a snapshot of how Canadians are feeling about the near-term future.
