Liberals Still Competitive Despite Conservative Cash Advantage
The latest fundraising numbers highlight growing financial challenges for smaller parties
With the latest federal fundraising numbers now out, let’s take a look at where the parties stand today from Federal down to the provincial levels in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan!
Federal
Starting off with the federal scene, we find the Conservatives continuing, as always, to hold their lead over the Liberals. This time around, their lead sits at $9,430,862 compared to the Liberals’ $6,826,628, giving the Conservatives a lead of more than $2.6M this quarter.
However, that’s still well above any previous quarter of the past few cycles for the Liberals, meaning the Liberals still have plenty of gas in the tank, so to speak, when it comes to moving the party forward.
Meanwhile, the New Democrats find themselves still deep in the hole, especially when it comes to covering those debts they so desperately need to pay down. When it comes to covering those expenses, the NDP finds itself covering another $1.67M, which isn’t the worst, but that also most of the leadership race to boot.
Lastly, the Bloc remains at $329,814, still trundling along as far as party fundraising goes, but nothing too bad by any means. The Greens and PPC, for yet another cycle in a row, have not reported any income.
Now to move onto the rest of the provinces!
