New polling released by Liaison Strategies is giving us new insight into how the Canadian public feels about Mark Carney, and the research suggests the honeymoon continues for the Prime Minister.

Liaison has tracked Carney’s approval rating as Prime Minister since May and found that his approval has never fallen below 60% in the four months since winning the federal election.

Today, Carney sits at 64% approval, while his disapproval sits at 32%, slightly higher than the first poll conducted post-election by Liaison that found his disapproval at 27%.

Nonetheless, Carney’s personal approvals have certainly translated into support for the Liberals in their new minority government. The same survey found the Liberals nine points ahead on the federal ballot, with the Liberals at 44% and the Conservatives at 35%. The NDP has rebounded somewhat from the election, sitting at 11%, which is five points higher than their April result.

Perhaps more surprising is that the Liberal Party is leading their Conservative rivals among every age group and gender. Even among men, the Conservatives fall seven points behind the Grits, while their best age demographic, those between 35 and 49 years of age, finds them two points behind their Liberal rivals.

Let’s dive deeper and also show where the Polling Canada model falls on the Liaison federal poll.
