Canadians Back a Palestinian State
Liberal and NDP voters overwhelmingly support recognition, while nearly half of Conservatives oppose it
New polling from Leger suggests that the share of Canadians who support the Palestinian people has grown, while those more critical of Israel have also seen their numbers rise.
When the survey asked whether Canada’s support of the Palestinian people has been too strong or not, 35% of Canadians said our nation’s support has been just right, up from 25% in June.
At the same time, the share of those who say Canada is too supportive has also increased from 16% to 25%, with Conservative voters being the most critical at 53%.
The share of those saying Canada hasn’t been supportive enough of the Palestinians has dropped from 21% to 14%, while the share of those without an opinion is down twelve points to 26%.
Let’s dive into the rest of the data, including views on support for a Palestinian state, and perceptions of rising Antisemitism and Islamophobia.
